Hello,

I have opportunity to buy a complete 1200cc VW engine with a 1400cc
Okrasa kit. I make the deal but I have a big problem ! This engine was
on a Beetle and my car is a 63’ Karmann-Ghia Type 14 convertible or
you know it’s impossible to closed the engine lids !

In fact, I want to find the two elbows wich are between the filter and
the carburator (see my picture in the yellow circle). I thing it’s now impossible to find it NOS in Europe. I want to buy it or to rebuild them. Do you know if someone who rebuild this ?

Thank you in advance for your help !

Regards, Cyril

Hello Cyril, welcome to the forum.

There is an advert on The Samba at the moment that sounds like it may be what you are after.

There is no picture, so I am not sure if what he calls a 'snoorkle' is in fact the elbow that bolts on to the manifold to mount the air filter.

He wants $450 for the pair so I would get some photographs!

Hello,

Thank you for your topic. In fact the guy own just the filters ! I thing the best solution for me will be to rebuild the aircleaner angled tubes. Do you know in England some people who owned Ghia with an Okrasa engine ? I could take the measeruments.

Thank you for your help.

Hi ,
maybe you can contact Alejandro Martin from Brussels .
I do not have his Email but I think on the Judson register you can find info on this guy.

Another source in the states is Mr Joe Ruiz aka MR OKRASA.
onthe samba you can find info on him

A bit Google and you will find info on those guys.

Otherwise you can always look at some picts from okrasa engines. I think Lenny Copp from west coast classics had restored a ghia with okrasa engine.
Copying those elbows could not be so difficult. I think it is even the simplest item to reproduce on al the special Okrasa parts.

I don't think they would be that difficult to make. Does anybody have the correct dimensions??
