I'm a little confused about which headlamps I should have on my June '57 Oval. I have been looking at pictures of beetles at Lavenham and also those in various Beetle Books but I haven't yet come to a firm conclusion. Early Ovals appear to have their adjusting screws at the 20 too and 20 past positions, some later ones and large rear window models have theirs at the 1/4 too and O'Clock positions, whilst others have theirs at 20 too and 10 past. Can any one tell me if the changes occurred at definite times or did it depend on who was supplying the headlamps; Bosch, Hella or VW etc at any one particular time?

Thanks for any advice.

Both Bosch and Hella were OEM suppliers to VW for their headlamps. All RHD 56-60 cars, as far as I'm aware, were fitted with the Bosch 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock headlamps with the VW-logo lenses.
Twenty-to and ten-past rims were not used until August '60 on any car.
Twenty-past and twenty-to rims were used by Hella on pre-60 cars (including US spec lamps).
