 In my original owners hand book it specifies that front pressures should be approx 16 psi and rear approx 25 psi. Is this sufficient for modern day driving as they look very low when the car is at a stand still. If I were to increase the pressures to say 25,30 could this damage anything, whenever I look at show cars they always look like the pressures are much higher i.e. no bulging/sagging on the bottom of the tyres.

the pressure quoted will be for cross ply tyres you will probably have modern radials fitted now. pressure should be 20 on front and 30 on back, don't put any more in otherwise you will wear the tyres out and are likely to skid very easily as they will be overinflated
