The manifolds are stock type-3 dualport manifolds. (The base engine is a 1600 dualport type-3 with 88mm slip-in's)

Removed the frontseats and started dismantling the small parts in the dash etc. prior to repaint. Had to peak under the floormats to check the floorpans too..

Looks pretty rotten to me... ;)

I have never seen a beetle door that have had a plastic foil behind the doorpanels before either...

To top it all the PO had appearantly "sealed" the fenderbeading with vaseline!!!

Engine looks great, why do you need 20mm spacers and what did you do about the balance pipe?

Needed the spacers to lift the carbs some to make room for the sparkplug cables as the accelerator arms etc. hit the cables. Also with the spacers I didn't need to make the neck on the 30hp aircleaners 10cm long to fit the original fanshroud. Had to be able to turn the aircleaners backwards. (forward of the vehicle) Otherwise the aircleaners would be to wide to fit the enginebay.

If I would have used a narrower 30hp fanshroud I could have managed without the spacers and also make the now 45mm long necks even shorter too.

Sanded off the spraycan Seesand off the fender and also paintstripped the area where I had hammered out a big dent.

I think I did get the dent out pretty good.

Engine finished. Just need to buy a new fanbelt and mount it to the not yet finished testing bench so I can test start it in the bench. 😎

Rolled out the last time without an engine.

All my measuring during the winter seems to have paid out. The aircleaners do fit in the enginecompartment. :D

Engine finished! Just need some tuning to run smooth. All fitted inside the very tight enginebay... :)

UserPostedImage

Here it sits now after I brought it home from the garage.
Was out driving with it today too. Real fun driving a bug again! :D

The car itself still need some details done to it too.

Tonight I mounted the bumpers back onto it prior to the annual MOT inspections. Will probably keep the bumpers on afterwards too. Just wanted to have some fun with the T-bars I had made just for the Bugrun. Was supposed to make one set for a friend of mine so I made me one set too.. :D

Excellent result, you should be proud of! I really like the subtle changes, nice in line with its orginal looks.
