We normally run Castrol high mileage, but due to unavailability I ended up using some Morris stuff. Seems fine, and you hear good reviews about it.

It was green though, was a 'tad disconcerting.

Hi Rob,
I use Morris 'supreme 30' (now called 'golden film SAE30')

Their technical guru has some blurb on the link below

They now also do a low disperant / detergent multigrade 20W/50. Might try that nest, my original owners manual specifies multigrade as an option.

Did you mean to say Morris? It's actually Halfords Classic Oil 20w50 5L  - unless Halfords re-brand Morris and I didn't notice?!
I've been considering using GM/Vauxhall Mineral oil 15W40 SL/CF A3/B4 mineral oil which I can get for £10 for 5l (excl. VAT) - thoughts?

I doubt Halfords make their own oil so it must be a rebrand of something - I suspect the comma 20w50... based purely on the fact that the tins look similar.  comma20w50.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

What about classic Castrol?

(Because I like the look of the tins) 😎

I like Morris but my local Halfords doesn't stock it. I have also used Halfords' equivalent for classic cars, in a green tin I think. As long as it's SAE 30, it's OK I think.

That's what I've been using for a while. It's hard to find locally though. It tastes good too.

I've been using Halfords Classic, but VW Heritage have just started stocking Morris's SAE 30 so I think I shall be switching back to Monograde.

I always used to run all my bugs, which were everyday cars and high mileage ones too, on Morris's HD 30, not sure that you can get that now though...

I've been using Morris's 30 grade oil in all my air-cooled engines for around ten years now but I've recently noticed that it isn't HD (High Detergent) which is what VW stipulated. Don't know if it makes much difference as the rockers etc are as clean as a whistle.
