Spotted this wonderful stop and rear light unit recently on a 1940s BMW motorcycle. BMW is German of course and this lamp looks very much as though its a cross between the early split window raer light and the following heart top light. (Heartlights for Rattletrap anybody?)

If you needed counselling for that one John, you'll need a defibrillator for this one:-

Staggered when I saw the price...then not so staggered when I saw who the seller was.

Yes I'm afraid that once you see the name of the seller then it becomes all too clear!
Cheers,

Didn't know VW parts were so expensive. I thought MG parts were priced high!

Here's a link to a site that seems to have various tail lights and many other rarities. I imagine the lights are repro?

Looks like you'd need to be careful when buying a restored vintage:!:

It is now possible to get an entire car body in plastic. My friend's 'heritage Mini' has had a plastic body shell.
I expect it could happen to the equally popular Beetle some day.

Its a bit different with Minis as they have a full monacoque shell. The Beetle is a quality car with separate body on chassis, so not very easy to replicate I'd think (hope). I'd hate to see plastic splits, Hebs, ovals and vintage cabrios running around:(
