Has anyone ever replaced the wiring loom in a 50s Beetle without removing the headliner? I replaced the loom in an Oval many years ago and whilst it was a struggle, it was made easier by the fact that the headliner was removed pending renewal.

I wonder if it would be possible to attach draw wires to the loom at the engine end and at the semaphore terminal points and then pull it out, with a view to using the draw wires to install the new one. Or would there simply be too much friction to even contemplate this?
