Wasn't there any offer from the mad Volvo drivers insurance?

Doh!

And yes, there was word from her insurance, I'm paying for her new front end.

I'd be happy to look at it as it is, so anything you can sort out between now and then would be a bonus. Don't let money be the reason not to take part!

Yes. And I'll then pay again, probably more come renewal. Add to that the cost of putting my car right and that turns out to be a pretty expensive trip to the next town.

I have no proof of what I know to be true, that she must have been speeding. No proof. Zilch. Something she told me (that she was turning off) I know to be a lie, as she would have missed me had she turned off. The fact that she then bounced off me onto another car in my head means also that she must've been doing a fair old speed.

I so wish I had put my brain more into gear just after it happened, but I just got her address (not ever her reg FFS) and drove the car home at 5mph as the tracking was so far out. I should've ran home and grabbed my camera. It was very strange, I wanted nothing more than to just get home. I think I was kind-of in shock but didn't know it, I was weirdly calm and didn't even loose my rag. I even made sure she was okay to get her little crying brat home.

I'm also guessing I'll be paying for whatever damage the Golf she then hit has, it looked okay and the woman seemed reasonable and quite nice so I hope she doesn't claim for a full respray or something silly.

It's very odd. I dont remember a thing from the point at which I saw her about to hit me, until about ten seconds after it happened. I was just sat there in the drivers seat and took a while to put the handbrake on, seat belt off, ignition off etc.

Yes, sorry for the off subject ramblings.

Ah, I wasn't sure if you knew I was talking about my red oxide 'scene look' car.

Thanks very much for the offer but I have a spare repro LHS wing that I'll spray up and fit this week, to get me by as the old one although slightly straighter now really has had it.

In the long run I think I'll get a full set of Days mouldings fibreglass ones. £150 and the fit of originals. I was really anti this a while ago, and sourced some reasonable '66 wings to use. These were in not bad condition, but they had so many dents that I soon realised they would be full of lead and filler before they were straight again. As I was using nasty matt paint as a stop gap I decided to leave them as they were, they have no filler in them currently as I bare metalled them prior to painting. your going to have to pay big bucks to get a set of nice straight original wings, and that's with 60's ones being far more plentiful than earlier ones!

Thanks for the offer though, I may have a lead on a decent cut (whole shell actually) that I can chop up to repair the Volvo damage.

So... It looks like we're having a stock display and going by the replies so far we'll also have a complimentary show for the personalised cars.

https://ivanhirst.com/display-guidelines  - when I have a better idea of those who want to attend I'll post everything here.

I guess it depends on the strictness of 'stock', mines outwardly stockish - but converted to 12v, dual circuit brakes and 1600 twin carb engine... (hence my custom car comment)

I had a great day at REME today, I spent some time with the Archivist anf if all goes well there may be a few very special exhibits brought out of the store for this meeting... no promises but I think Brian has a few gems hidden for the early VW history buffs.
