Got my renewal in, and premium has gone up 40%.

They've also sent through the renewal less than a week before policy expires, so a bit naughty as this doesn't give me a long time to shop around.

I've never claimed since 1991, so can anyone recommend an alternative to Adrian Flux?

'Sheila' (my Oval) is with Footman James and they've always been very competiive. This time though I've asked for a multi-vehicle quote as I was sick of trying to remember to insure lots of cars. For a Mk1 Golf Gti, mk1 Sirocco GLS, 1954 Oval and T25 Westy California, they've quoted £493.

That's unlimited mileage and agreed values.

Thanks chaps.

I've just checked last years renewal and for my 67, agreed value with limited mileage was £80.

This year it's £119.20 for the same cover :?: . That's a 49% rise :omg:

I'll give Footman James a call tomorrow.

I use Norton Insurance, I think they have always been fairly reasonable. Which reminds me the laid up insurance is due on my cabrio and they want me to get it revalued as it's been a few years since I agreed the value with them. Anyone know who can do this for me from photos (car has no MOT) do I need to join the Historic club again ?

Cheers

Just called Footman James, quoted me £1.20 cheaper than Adrian Flux :thumbdn:

Anyone else think insurance companies load their cover with unnecessary packages, i.e. free roadside assistance (I have AA cover), European driving cover (I pootle around locally), flying goat attack cover...

Wonder how much premiums would be if you just paid for the cover you actually need?

The guy who runs the 'Specialist Car Dept' at Footman James is a massive VW fan, I have been mates with him for fifteen years or so. I have six of my cars insured with them (agreed value, un-limited miles) and I think the total premium for the year is around £540. Great value in my opinion!

Was with Aon for years then it became part of Footman James. My premium has increased by around 40% in the last two years. Also the policy is loaded with things not required including breakdown cover.

Unfortunately Old Blue, that is the figure the insurance industry is quoteing, for them having to cover the cost of fraudulant claims.

Cock and bull story i think. As car insurance is a legal requirment, within reason, they can go where they want to.

My daily driver insurance, thru' the same broker but a different company actually went down £60 this year. The business is all over the place.

All of them are doing it.

I've called several now and most bundle in European driving cover too... bit of a contradiction in cover, limiting your mileage, then offering you cover to go trundling across the Channel 😛

Not any more, George. I spoke to him last night & he stopped doing it a while back.

Can anyone recommend someone who can do it? Do the Historic Club do valuations, and if so, who would be the person to contact?

Thanks in advance!
