Hello To all you dedicated & Lucky Heb - Fans who made it to Bad Camberg this year  ! Can some of you report here and / or post some pics of the Hebs in attendance? What was the final total? Were there any "new" ones there? Any unexpected "surprises?" Any Hebs in the lineup with "For Sale" signs on them ?

Such things keep me up late at night here in Hong Kong, and keep me therefore asleep the following day! (Day Dreaming) So please keep me awake as late as possible!

My Heb is still very much in the "Dream" phase.

Vielen Dank!

Sorry Steve...I could not resist it.
There were a few hebs. I did not count them all...
A green replica from the coupé was there. And like Patrick wrote, the proto nr 4 was also there. Send you a mail with some info.

THANKS Patrick & Peter

I look forward to some fotos of those HEB "no VW elties." I couldn't resist that one. Do you know who is the lucky fellow with the '48 proto? Is he a storied collector or closet Heb guy?

I sent you a PM, Peter but your mail box is full ......... seems lots of Heb Detective work needed these days so I'll stand in line.

Congrats to Claus on # 522  , and Great shot of you both at Dusseldorf. Keep up the GREAT work on the Heb - Web - Site! More news on the way ...... but it's on a slow boat from China ............

Hey Stevwe..I cleaned a bit in the inbox on this site, did you got my mail that I send "in auftrag"?:? or is that one full?

The Proto Heb is from a collector from Germany. He is in to VW's long time and has some serious stuff but rarely comes out. Like this occasion.
Greetings. Peter.

I didn't get a count of Hebs either, they weren't in one place - they were scattered around the field. Not easy to count when you wander around and then bump into someone and end up chatting for half an hour or so...

Well, after a small research on my picts I found these:

Claus Missing with heb 522, blue Ivory.
Reinhold Plank with heb 166, Pistache color
Andreas Hendle with his heb 455, black on Ivory
Gerhard Richter with his heb, black on Ivory
Ringo with the south african heb, 2 tone brown
Thomas Thurnwald with his heb, black on Ivory
A German with heb 422, black
Herr Kroger with heb 375 Black on red
An Italian guy with one of his 3 hebs Black on Ivory
Pascal with his 458 Heb red with black fenders.
And there was a prototype nr 4 with a rare rear engine cover

Oh, and a green hebcoué replica. Not real but close...

And there were a few hebowners without their cars...lot's of them.

Maybe I missed a heb...?
Greetings. Peter

Thanks Peter & all for the Heb - Count at B.C.

The only BAD thing about Bad Camberg (besides the weather I hear) is that I couldn't make it there to meet all you good VW folks!

Does anyone have a picture or two of Heb Proto # 4 with its "rare engine cover?" Does anyone know the story on the car? Even partial or vague recollections will do at this point for a frustrated mid - night Heb - Surfer from Hong Kong :?

here's vague!

i heard:
it was a heb built around a (VW?) prototype 1948 decklid?
the main body was slightly later - maybe 1949 - so still interesting in itself?
so a curious mix of 2 items, not quite what is was portrayed as on the board?

covered under a sheet because of the rain for most of the time, & left early

yes, we need the true version!

Many Thanks to "Rock Stock" for Photo Journalism above and beyond the call of duty

His story is "vague," but his pics each tell a thousand words! This is really a story worth listening to, and I'm sure the pages will soon get filled in.

As a next step, does anyone have a HI RES version of the placard? I'd like to read it from my armchair here in HK, since my google ZOOM map function wasn't working well enough on that rainy day. 😞 I was looking for the chassis number from space.

Vielen Dank

It's still quite difficult to make it all out but I'll ask Jean this evening, when I get home from work  It might cost you a large glass of nice red wine though at the next show... 😛 (no, not for me!)

And what is the general opinion as to the accuracy of this info?

How much of this car is from the original 1948 car?

Additionally, it says it was built in Wolfsburg in Dec `48 by the test/prototype dept for the Geneva Salon motor show and shipped down to AMAG (Swiss VW importers) on loan. Hebmüller didn´t build it, as they hadn´t yet been selected to build two seat Kabrios. The Heb typical decklid was hand hammered from four pieces.
