Gareth,

I would be inclined to send them to John Henry in the US. I don't know anybody in the UK who specialises in SWF/SHO restorations. There are guys that restore Lucas ones, but I wouldn't trust anybody who is inclined to work on Austins, Jaguars and Morrises.

I'd agree with that.

John Henry specialises in grooved semaphores, and Matt in Canada does the later ones.

I have a pair of semaphores Matt rebuilt from NOS parts, and they're superb. He advertises on the Web, and his service is very good too.

Best of luck.

British cars tend to share a generic Lucus type, and you're right, don't hand the British experts anything German, especially given that a ribbed pair of Beetle semaphores has a value of £300+ compared to £35-£40 for the generic Lucas ones.
