That one is made by Bob shail. He used to have the white one with the red cross; sold to Italy and now back in the UK.

Seems odd to build such a vehicle on a late model 1970s Beetle. You'd think that a pre1967 Beetle would be the choice to replicate the original Papler police car?

I don't think it's about building a 'replica', it's just the same style - a revival as Bob puts it.

There's two there. Is there some sort of kit available, or does he work from scratch?

Bob Shaiil certainly keeps busy. The beige car on the right is one of his too.:mellow:

Half VW, half Steyr. At the time this was his daily driver, not sure if it still is.

His other 'halfbreeed' the KdF Hannomag went over to New Zealand I'm sure. I think he has now sold the Steyr which has now joiined it:mellow:

KdF Beetle 'Geronimo' (349 GMO) was his fiirst build i think. Of course that haslived with me for around 25years (see the Rattlletrap thread):smile:
