Can i put a 12 volt starter straight onto my 1967 bug in place of the original 6 volt one. I heard that in 67 the 6v starters are the same as the later ones in size any one confirm this or is itr a case of buyig the starter and suck it and see.
thanks
Simon.

That works perfekt !
But I would let the 6 volt starter in the car !
I was driving and starting a beetle for years like that (12 volt)

I used a 6volt starter with 12volts for a long time too - BUT - you will eventually tear the teeth off your flywheel.

Just leave the car 6 volt! Its the easiest solution.
