Well I'd like to think that the emissions test scandal that Volkswagen is caught up in in America is not of any substance.

If this has been going on it is a betrayal to everyone. As a daily road cyclist I for one will not be impressed given the amount of pollution I am exposed to.

If it's true, then it smacks of pure greed that such a large company can take such fraudulent, damaging actions to further increase its massive sales.:thumbdn:

Seems to be true.

Doubt it'll change people's liking or disliking of the old Beetle though. .

Interesting how it's going to pan out. They've obviously deceived at lot of people and are paying the price now, shares down at least 30% - which is a huge amount of money for a company the size of VW.

There are articles floating around about how it will affect prices of older VW's as well, based on the fact that they're going to lose fans of their brand. Personally, I don't see this happening. VW has a similar brand popularity to Apple in some respects, if Apple makes a phone that can't make calls - it makes big news headlines and the share price drops, but the fans soon forget and they bounce back.

My opinion is that if VW can recover from being a product of the Nazi's it can probably recover from fiddling some emission figures...

Volkswagen may have recovered from it's early history - but some still hold a predudice. Only a couple of weeks ago I was told by some old guy who drives a big Jaguar that my Beetle was German cr*p.:thumbdn:

Apparently, in the UK under the Consumer Rights Act which comes into force next week, owners of value depreciated vehicles may be able to come together and collectively sue Volkswagen AG. Talk is in the media of VW losing billions of Euros/pounds, some even predicting the unimaginable - the end of the German car manufacturer. If this were to actually happen could we see companies like BMW or even Nissan cherry picking brands like Golf, Beetle or Polo as we saw with the demise here of Rover with BMW taking the Mini brand:?:

If you have a VW collection, you may have understandably woken up this morning feeling a bit like the guy who paid a fortune for Jimmy Saville's Rolls Royce only to see its value plummet when Saville's paedophile activities broke to the public.:(

Two cartoons from the Daily Mail.

Think Volkswagen and people think Beetle, and not despite it's success - Golf:!:
