I've been thinking about adding this for a while, I think it would be a great way to document changes throughout the years.

Progressive Refinements

The idea is that there will be a post for each subject and we gather photos of changes throughout the years, the top post will then be edited to show all the relevant changes in date order (with other oddities like convertible options)

So then anyone needing to know what their car should have, they can use this section as a reference.

This isn't something I can do on my own, so I'm looking for help - pics of your own cars, friends cars, pics from shows etc. Suggestions for other components etc. Beer My thoughts so far are:

Door handles
Tail lights
headlights
semaphores
rear view mirrors
engine parts?

Until which year, he asks speculatively? To the bitter end, or just til 67?

Ok just wondering - should we just send pics of what we have, because I don´t personally know what years things changed? That way we may turn up unknown differences also.

Post them up, I'm not sure of all the changes of all the years either - kind of the idea of the section. If you know the years then put it, if not then lets work it out Cool

As above, great idea Rob. I've just kicked the handle thread off but I bet that turns out to be a bus handle! Laughing

I'm surprised this has not been done before as there are many books that detail the changes but nothing on the web that I know of and I'm always surprised how many times the same question gets asked on the Samba.

Great! Glad people are up for it...

What I'll probably do is delete or move and off-topic posts from this section so that it's tidy and easy to find stuff. Then when it's about done I'll probably lock the posts to stop people asking questions on the threads.

I have a few detail photos from shows from when I had this sort of thing in mind, I'll add those as well.

Thanks people!

It can be done, just need to get the angle right. Normally takes me about ten shots one after the other to get the correct combination of settings and angle etc. Wink

Like those really nice but subtle curve differences of the pre-1950 front wings.

My '47 and '49 have their originals – so nice to the trained eye, but difficult to show well on camera Confused
