Well I know it's not going to be stock, but I'm so pleased with the job Gav's done (and she's yet to be polished) I thought I'd post some pics for those that don't look elsewhere.

Perhaps I'll post some of the standard bits as I go.

Tks Will. Beer

30 horse? Nah, going to have a good few years having a real laugh with it before I change my vans for carpet slippers, my ciggies for a pipe and go and buy a cloth cap! Laughing

Why you cheeky young whippersnapper! I´d beat you silly with my zimmer frame if I could only get out of this armchair!! Nurse....!!

Looking ridiculously nice. Might inspire me to sort mine out one day.
I´m telling you though, that thing would also look just as good sitting high and proud on a set of fat-ass whitewalls.

I´m dying to find out if the greatest restoration minds in the UK will be able to get the windows to cooperate with the roof frame.

Well from the Vw article on your car there didn't look to be much wrong with it!

I reckon the day when it's running a 30hp and it's high and proud on white walls may come...just not yet. Wink

Ben's already had the hood frame and windows all talking to each other so it shouldn't be a problem now, but we'll see, there's lot of variables on getting it spot on.

1) I don't "do" patina Rob Wink

2) I bet you'll still be taking photos of it and love it when it's done! Laughing Beer

Tks for comments Andi and Pascal. I absolutely love this colour. Car's now unmasked and some of the smaller items have been painted:

And after talking to Carl Smyth who owns the fantastic Italian Iris Blue 55, he tells me (and said in best Michael Caine voice - not a lot of people know that) early Oval Cabrio's had body coloured bumper irons. At least his car did and I've come across another unrestored car that had them body colour.

The bumper irons are painted only inside in body colour, outside black (half-half)
Also the gastank+hardware, gloveboxcardboard, front trunkcardboard, hardware to hold the chassis on his place should be painted in bodycolour, I guess even the feulcap but I'm not sure about that, my zwitter vert had a painted feulcap and was never repainted but my 55 cab was like that.

Ack. You had to go and spoil it, didn't you? Those Porsche-style wheeltrims just never worked for me...

Aside from that, it really is stunningly good stuff, isn't it? I'm glad that someone's got the kahunas (etc.) to have something like this built. I do hope I'll get the chance to look at it in real life sometime.

Got lots more Andi but they don't fill the stock requirement so you'll have to look on RW for those.

OH OH OH SNAP!! We ARE (almost) IDENTICAL TWINS!! Laughing I must remember to park my slimfastmobile next to yours at all shows!

It does look amazing Cool I would love to have 'the gav' paint something of mine some day, but then, shiny paint fills me with the fear of the loose gravel of the world!
