For the value of those "earlies" you could easily get some nice 16" wheels and decent suspension! :idea:


And then go an buy a 1000 lottery tickets with the remainder and hope you get lucky! :lol:

That's a cracking car. Of course I love it as it is but it would only take a new beam, readjustment of the rear spring plates and some standard wheels to make it stock.

$120,000...is it worth it? I would say it is. Having sold his recently perhaps George can comment on whether Split Cabrio's reach that type of figure?

$120,000 is that about £75,000 at the moment?
I would say over priced. We witnessed earlier this week,the advertised price is usually way above the selling price.

I also think there's a difference between a '50 and a '52 - the vast majority of split cabs seem to be '52s

Really i think it's down to the strength of the £ again.
If the rate was 2$ to the £,as it was, the car would be perfectly priced.
I know of 3 pre 52 Karmanns sold in the last 6 months,and this seems at the high end of the going rate.(based on a better exchange rate)
So the seller has his figures about right,it just seems high to the U.K market.
Prices are on the up every week now,ceases to be a shock anymore.

Must be said, this credit crunch has bought a load of early Kabs out for sale.

i have seen 4 split dashed kabs grace the for sale sections recently.
You can never have too many accessories on your car. 🙂

There's one on the samba sale section, the zwitter one, that has been about for ages, was in Volksworlds vintage mag ages ago (done high milage), and the strato silver one, and my friend Claire has a 55 on a later pan.
