how difficult is it to adapt later doors to fit early ovals

it seems near impossible to find a pair of early doors no matter how rusty they are , and I can take rusty!

so im looking at fitting later doors.

can I just cut the striker plate from a later shell and weld it to the 53 shell?

I have a donor 57 shell with all the bits and at least I can progress with my build?



OR
any one know of some really bad , rusty early doors?
