I had a chat with a man at an all makes show this August. Turns out he works for "Vintage Tyres" at Beaulieu Museum and he said 8 years for renewals.

Well I know he could be trying to drum up custom but I bet most of us here will be double-checking that predicted lifespan. I was hoping my set of whitewall were going to see me out.

Found a great auction site to get rid of Rattletrap on:d

Just kidding (about getting rid of RT that is), however, there is a familiar ex-UK Standard split on there at the moment; Haven't seen it around for over ten years now, some of you may recall it:smile:

Hi everyone, members and non-members.

I'm still hoping to find more pictures, articles or anything relating to Rattletrap's past. The car appeared in many shows both VW and mixed vintage/classic over three decades. If anyone can help please send them to me at [email protected], or if you prefer, please post them here, though I'd rather have direct copies of any files that you may have which I would post here anyway.8)

Recently found the two missing front bumper badges from the days before Rattletrap's big smash. These I presumed went missing along with the bent panels and bumpers after the crash, prior to rebuild. One is for the American Servicemen Automobile Club, and the other Tony's VW Owners Club of GB badge. I've owned Rattletrap for almost seven years now, and having been through it many times checking for the repairs and so on, you'd think I knew what was in the car.

The badges appeared stuffed in the glove box recently leaving little room for anything else, so hardly hidden from sight. I really do not recall seeing them before, as if I had, I'd have fitted them back there and then as I want to get the car as much to when Tony had it as possible. I know I'd opened the glove box a few times since I first got the car, as the glove box door was jammed shut and I had a task getting it open, (the scratch mark on the door from where I slipped with a screwdriver is still evident). I have also used it since:?

Spooky:omg:

Here they are now back on the car,

And here is an old picture when they were on it back in the day.

It feels like a long winter just now, nothing much is happening with Rattletrap to report on, and there are some out there that are missing BBC's Top Gear programme, so here's a bit of fun:smile:

Was having a search around the garage yesterday and dug out these wheel trims, or beauty rings as they are sometimes called. They are aluminium with a nice fluted style and no holes. These are the only ones I've ever seen, so unless someone can say otherwise, they could be unique now.

They are a bit battered but as they are for 15" wheels and suitable only for a DeLuxe, I may clean them up and put them on Rattletrap who's also a bit battered.

I presume that they would be ink stamped rather than die stamped which would show through.
