I have run Toyo on my oval - they are a softer rubber but handle very well in the wet...

Back when I used to daily a Beetle - I had Firestones on the back (I found them to be very hard - and VERY interesting in the wet!) and Toyo on the front - the front would generally grip very well no matter what - the back could be most interesting in the wet though...
