There has been growing speculation recently as to whether there will be another International Vintage Volkswagen Meeting at Lavenham in 2016, following the decision by Malcolm Hawkins and Adrian Chalmers to stand down as organisers. However, at Malcolm’s invitation and following a very positive meeting with Lavenham Council, the Historic Volkswagen Club will run the event on 24-26 June, 2016. Organisation is still at an early stage but the meeting is likely to follow the established format, with registration taking place from early Friday afternoon, displays distributed throughout the village on the Saturday followed by a meal in the evening and then a run out on the Sunday morning. We are also pleased that the Split-Screen Van Club has, once again, agreed to be involved and that publicity will be in the hands of Rob Amos, who runs the Pre-’67 VW website. However, one change from previous events is that the displays will spread from the Market Square up the village toward the church, rather than down the village to the water meadow by the river. This is to avoid the situation which very nearly scuppered the last meeting when the field flooded after heavy rain! We also hope to have a greater specialist trade presence and shall be widely publicising the meeting among the European clubs. Traders can register their preliminary interest by e-mail to info@vintage-volkswagens-lavenham.co.uk and booking forms with full details will be available in due course. More details will be posted on the VW Pre-’67 forum (www.pre67vw.com) as they emerge and full informationwill be available on the dedicated event website: www.vintage-volkswagens-lavenham.co.ukCharles Oldroyd Chairman, Historic Volkswagen Club |

Starting to really look forward to this show. Although I'm not showing my '65, I've been tidying it up over the past fews week ready for the drive down from Edinburgh. Im going to split it over 3days and make the most of the A & B roads. The car might come off the road next year to sort some underlying rust issues and an engine rebuild so this is going to be its big blow out before spending the next 1-2 years undergoing refurbishment. The text on the air freshener says it all.. I

Almost 150 confirmed entries now but still a bit of space for more. Interested? Then be quick as entries close at 6.00pm on Sunday 19th June visit the event website at http://www.vintage-volkswagens-lavenham.co.uk/ for more details. Do you want to sell a few parts but don't want to stand with them all day? Then the Historic Volkswagen Club stand is the place to take them. The club is offering to display 5 items for free (no commission on sales) and display more parts at £1.00 per item, clean, safe handleable items only please. Bring your parts along to the club stand on Saturday morning, label them with the labels provided, complete a list of items and leave them to be gazed upon by the visitors. Hopefully you will sell something before collecting the unsold items and any money you have made in the late afternoon. Rod

All received Russell, many thanks we look forward to seeing both cars next weekend. Maybe come 2020 we should be encouraging a 70+ (years) display. I don't know how many 1940's cars we have here in the UK but by then there should be enough to present a great show. Not to mention the military VWs that hide away. Rod
