Hi Dom, welcome to the forum. :D That looks like a very nice original beetle you have! 8)

Posted by: Dom - 30 July 2006 18:01:18
Cheers. Needs a little work, nothing major, re-trim/re-spray etc, but it's the only stock bug in local club (krazy dub club bristol) which I'am quite proud of :D Looking forward to Lavenham

Here is my 65 bug. Her name is Heidi (as named by the elderly gentleman we bought her from) She is the first car I have owned and the only one I really like driving. :D She looked really tired when we first got her but a respray and other new bits have really brought her back to life. :)

Here is ours the day after we picked it up from being restored, which was also our wedding day. I know it's not original but we love her.

Nice car!! Welcome to the forum!

Posted by: mrsherbie - 11 October 2006 00:19:23
where can i buy correct heater channels? status vw?
I dont know which Status vw sell, but I got one ( I chopped up for repair panels!) from VWHeritage a few months back, while there I looked at both types available together, the cheap one (black) the same one that GSF sell, and the expensive one (grey) and the expensive one is 10 times better quality and weight. Well worth the extra expense, but they are a LOT more £!! The cheap one's will rust out quicker given time. Try to view both before you decide. You should be able to at Slough swapmeet if its more convenient. Stock 60's beetles are so out of the norm these days. Nice car pics on this thread! :D

i sold the 65 a few months ago :( i'll be buying it back though  and bought a 70' semi auto!

Hey there! I don't own a 65 (as of yet) although may well be soon! How does a Australian 65 (bug) differ from others? And how hard are parts to source, are they one year only..? Sorry to sounds so dozey, but I've been post 67 all my life!

nice, here is my 65. 1835 motor and a big list of upgrades. Every thing is custom or non stock.
Every thing is custom or non stock.
Welcome to the forum, but not sure you'll find much of any use to you around here - this site is geared towards stock VW's... Unless you plan to put it all back to stock that is

Hey there everyone, not been registered long, I've had this since November: '65 1200, still on 6 volts, 6V Ecko radio in the dash. It has a replacement engine, but I have the original in the shed.

Apart form the passenger door and one of the rear wings, me thinks it is still original too! There seem to be alot of 64/65s in either java green or sea blue..... good choice in my opinion! Gonna get some work done on it this summer and bring the shine back!
