I'm currently restorng a 54 Beetle. This bug has dual tail pipes. My information is that dual tail pipes were introduced in 1955. Can someone please confirm?
Secondly did the european beetles of 1954 sport the "new 1956 steering wheel" back in 1954?

If your 54 oval window is build before 04.08.1955 (before 1-0929 746) it should have only one tail pipe!

Hi Jay Day here, well looking at the chassis number, given to you, looks like my oval, should be a single tail pipe model. I guess you have heart rear lights too.
Looks like I best go fins some for mine .

I have a 54 myself all original and that has heart tail lights, single pipe and bat-wing steering wheel.
