I recently bought a '65 Bug. I'm looking to buy a good repair manual(not Haynes!), and I want to make sure of the year before shelling out $80 or so for a book. The pink slip reads "1965". Is there any reason to think that that number would be inaccurate? And if so, what else can I do to verify the year?

If you click on the 'Numbers/Codes' tab on the site navigation at the top, you'll find a list of chassis numbers for July and December of each year so you can get a rough idea of when yours left the factory. Model years run August to August.
