Why have you got such a thing about shiny cars, John? :wink: My old 51 Standard which you now have is nice and shiny, isn't it? Even though it has patina...:d

I love the colour and it is not over shiny. In fact it looks about the right level of finish for a post 47 split-window VW :beer:
I've owned it a few years now, refraining from polishing it other than a wipe-down with rain water and a leather – (not tap water), so the paint has dulled a little over time :wink:
I do love the satin/semi matt finish most of all, but this belongs more to the early post-war (pre '48 cars) in general. However, this hasn't stopped me putting my '50 Standard into a semi-matt finish 😎
