I used to own a 68 1500 beetle which had a large spring which kept the engine lid up when working on it. My 58 does not have such a spring, is it missing or did this mechanism come in at a later date??? :shock:

my 64 is missing that as well went to get a new one put on and the bit that the spring sits in the deck lid was stuffed , so i use an old broom handle cut down NICE!!!
