I am currently looking at respraying my 1960 beetle. I have two problems, I'm not sure what the colour is and I don't know where I can get the paint from. On my vehicle registration form it says the colour is Bahama blue but I looked on a web site and that colour didn't really come out till 1962. The colour seems to be a whitey blue and I don't have a digital camera to post a picture on this site does anyone have an idea what colour it could be??? :?

If you take the car (or a part of the car) to the paint supplier, they usually have charts that you can match it up to - if its the original colour.

I just read that you also don't know where to get the paint from....

The best thing to do then, is to decide where you're getting your car resprayed, then ask them where they get their paint from - take the part to their supplier.

you could get a birth certificate for your car this shows the original paint code when it left the factory, its also a nice thing to have. they cost 15 euros from the stiftung automuseum(www.automuseum.volkswagen.de)
