The car was restored in 1979 and Volkswagen supplied the paint, its the correct lead based paint according to the paper work I have. I'm often told "You should give it a cut and polish, it would come up a treat"

Purchased a star coil, but customs drilled holes in it to inspect for drugs etc.
This has rendered the coil useless. Makes a nice paper weight now.

Don't ever do that:!:

Your car is just the way a Standard should look:beer:

I think that shiny Standards do not look correct if they are glossy. The modern paints ruins the appearance and it never dulls down very much. I'd rather see a Standard with scruffy old body work than new paint. So many people spoil their early cars with the artificially shiny modern paint. For me acquiring such a car would mean almost a partial re-restoration as the whole lot would need to be stripped off to be replaced with the correct finish.

My '49 early DeLuxe has never had a repaint. It has its original worn flat paint, and it's my favourite all-time looker8)

There is no shortage of shiny VWs around:wink:
