Inspired by the dual-mount antenna comment, & MOTD2, I'd be interested to hear pre67 User's 'One Good, One Bad' items related to the VW scene
& when I say Bad, I just mean an irritation, something where your interest ebbs...

Rules are
>One of each (one good, one bad) per post
>Users can post more than once, but not in the same post

I want to hear from all the regulars, & I'd also really like to see an entry from some of the lurkers out there!

Good: Wholesome, original paintwork with period touched in areas

Bad: Rust and rot excused as 'patina'

Bad:Electrical tinkerers,dodgy/dangerous wiring

Good: a perfect black cabrio hood (top to Americans) with a tiny back window

Bad: people drooling over rusty old shite that has been 'slammed' saying things like - wicked, awesome, cool - when the owner mentions it scrapes on the road.

Good - original interior & carpet (best way to tell how a car has lived and been treated & mileage guage)

Bad - rusty gutters!

Good: amazing enthusiasm in all area's of the hobby.

Bad: car's which people think are cool but are really need need of a restoration

bad: wrong interieur, wrong paint, wrong parts...

Good: An interesting swapmeet, with rugs of unusual parts laid out by the side/front of vintage VWs
Bad: Show stalls selling crap VW paraphernalia (cuddly giraffes, VW mirrors, etc etc etc)

Good: Incredible restoration standards (occasionally).
Bad: 'V-Dubbers' and the 'VW Scene'. I sh*t 'em.

Good: A well detailed car or van, detail is everything and the smallest things count, I'm not talking about lining screw heads up (thats gay), I'm talking about stuff most people wouldn't even notice.

Bad: This is easy, cheap repro mirrors on Split vans, the ones that have the 'off center' mounting pin, also the arms that are often seen with them... the ones where the 'bend' is so obviously wrong and they are quite often not painted.... absolutely awful and I have a massive problem with them!

Some good ones!
There's been a real increase in RHD pride over the last few years, hasn't there. Gotta be original UK though
Jules, I like the mirror one.

Good: Getting hold of a vintage picture of a treasured VW you own
Bad: 'Improved' Beetle air-intake vent

Good:"Proper" vintage stockish shows
Bad : Stock height vans on aftermarket wheels you know the type , Randars etc wrong just wrong , stop it now !

Good: Folks who make the effort to bring their old classic cars out for us all to enjoy.
Bad: Playing ball games, or any other projectile-orientated game for that matter, at VW shows. :evil: :evil: :evil:
