The police Hebmüllers and Paplers had hand-rail seats as well, I guess they were the cheapest option.

The other thing to remember is that not every component on the prototypes was made especially for the car, they took some components from other production cars of the time.

Who knows. Back then I would have thought the Polizei might have had a priority for getting cars before private customers. Not impossible I suppose.

Very interesting pic, George. Being Deluxe based Police cars, I wonder if the seats were a harder wearing material than the cloth 'herringbone' usual type.:?

Wonder if the sofa rolls were kept on the back seat.

Anyone found a 40s Standard model in this guise with those hand-rail seats.

Later than that - a friend has a former Polizei `67 "Standard-ish" Cabrio.
For sale too if you fancy a project, though it is driveable.
