Just to show it made it, and to prove to '50 Karmann that the cardboard sunroof can withstand motorway speeds.

It was meant to be well under restoration by now, but it's been put back into service for a few months.

Just when did fender skirts (og steel ones) first appear.:?

My original totally unrestored '49 has them along with various other oddities such as bumper spats front and rear.

I've owned this low-mileage gem (I'm only the second owner) for 26 years, these items have been on the car for most if not all of its life – they're heavily patiana'd too.8)

Rattletrap – the Volkswagen Beetle that has covered an incredible mileage equivalent to over 35 times around the planet :omg:

I had assumed that Foxcraft were an American company as they made skirts for the American cars, so if thats the case then I doubt they'd have made them before the first VWs were officially exported to the US.

They look fantastic on my '49, being patiana'd the same as the rest of the car.

I fancied fitting skirts to Rattletrap – until I remembered Rattletrap's a 'he'.:(
