I gather there is someone in Germany who can stamp original style louvres into a regular Beetle lid, in order to replicate a Cabrio lid. Anyone know who it is, or have an email or Tel no? Would like to replace my rather knocked about original

Mr Wolfparts currently only does the louvres for split and oval engine lids, but is planning to make a tool for the later lids.

I have found a place in Germany that will stamp an engine lid. The price is 150euro for a late `50s or early `60s lid and 250 euro for a split/oval lid.

Here is a link, but you should contact them for details as they don't seem to be on the website...

Why not get yourself an original?

In fact its really only because - quite by chance - I happen to have a perfect spare black engine lid. I dare say I could fix my original up a bit to a decent state, but I will need a substitute lid for a while at any rate.

I've not done anything on it for ages 😞

Seeing the '50 cabrio at the weekend sure got me fired up again though, time for some action...

Do it! Do it! Summer`s coming!!

I can talk! I bought mine ready to roll. Anyone want to come to Germany to buy the corpse of a `63 Cabrio in several large chunks?

Hey, JD ,
Can you get me an idea what you want to sell?
or did I understand that wrong.
You are parting a 63 convert?
What is the current status ?
What parts are missing ?
Can you send me some picts.
I have a pall who is in search for a early ( pre 67 ) convert and needs a project.
thanks Peter

Yes - its a big project though, a lot of work for sure!

The "car" is made from a `63 rear body (very rusty at the back) and doors, a very nice`60 floorpan and the complete, straight and mostly rust free front from a `65 Käfer hardtop. I have the windscreen frame from the Cabrio also and a nice roof frame and all the windows. None of the body sections are welded together but it is all resting on the floorpan and so looks like a car at least and can be rolled around. I have some new heater channels also at extra cost.

If your friend wants to restore a nice original car, then this is NOT it! But if he is good with a welder and can align body parts correctly, then he could build something from it. There are no papers with it either.
