The story is that after Hebmuller went bust, the remaining parts were shipped to Karmann - who used the parts to finish about 14 other cars. I think there was talk of Karmann continuing production of the type 14A, but for whatever reason that didn't happen.

THe blue metalic one is indeed a complete repop but made with the best parts availeble from Dr Hortig.
Here you find more info.

And another one :omg:
https://hebsite.com/?page_id=232

The person to contact is Roger Dean.

Rob is correct about the Karmann built hebs. Rumour is that there are 12 made, then there was info on 14. I think it might be a bit more, not much but more.
I have at least 15 Vin numbers of Karmann made hebs and on Claus his site there is a new entry that fits the list but is not on it, so that could be nr 16.

However, I know at least one car that is made in the same time area and wears a MAHAG aufbau plate and no VW tag. Paperwork says it is a MAHAG?

Greetings.

Looks like a new ad for this car is up on the Samba, not sure how they can claim this:

The steel pressings were crafted by the same factory in Germany as the original 60 years ago.

and

The best part of this deal is the price it is half the price you will pay just to be able to say "I own an all original Hebmuller"

I think it´s a lovely 14A. 120K dollars is a lot of money though.
I wouldn´t call it a fake either, unless there´s some intent to decieve. Until someone tries to pass it off as genuine original, it´s a replica.

It is a lovely car, no doubt about it.

But why not market it as the best replica available, made from the best replica parts available? I think trying to say its an all original Hebmuller is an attempt to decieve, so yep - it's a FAKE.

It´s a bit ambiguously worded to be sure.

They said you have to pay half the price (for their car), wich you would have to pay (for an other car) to be able to say "I have an original Hebmüller".

So they do not say theirs is an original. They say the one twice that expensive is the original.
But still they merchandise it close to something original. It was not made by or at Hebmüller. So it is no Hebmüller. It is made as what was a VW type 14. But it was made today and with new produced panels. So it stays a replica and nothing else.
A beautiful car and well made but nothing original or historic.

"The steel pressings were crafted by the same factory in Germany as the original 60 years ago."
That´s nonsense of course.
