Takes effect on 1st April 2014 for vehicles built before 1st January 1974.
Maybe the qualifying date will be moved forwards by 12 months in each subsequent budget so that all vehicles become tax exempt when they're 40 years old.

Time to go out and buy a 1973 Beetle while their price is good.

Not being political, but I've noticed that each concession to the 'old car movement', 25 year tax exempt, MOT exempt and now a year roll-on tax exemption, has been under the Tories. When Labour got back in in 1997 they cancelled the Tories' 25 year roll on, so it stopped at 1972. Wonder if Labour will tamper with, or scrap concessions when they get back in again:?
Rattletrap – the Volkswagen Beetle that has covered an incredible mileage equivalent to over 35 times around the planet :omg:
Running nifty since 1950… the King of Volkswagens:beer: Why not make friends with this famous little VW – he's on facebook!
