Were Schwimmers around in 1938:?

The vendor of this VW seems to think so:arrow:

On 1st July 1940 Ferdinand was given a contract to design a amphibious vehicle. On 21st September the prototype was ready to roll The schwimmwagen we know started I think 18th February 1942.

That prewar car site is a good place to find early VWs. Problem is they always turn out to be duds in some way or another as I've found.
1956 VW Beetle, 1962 Morris Minor, 1968 VW Beetle (Old Blue), 1972 Morris Mini, 2005 MGTF

Blue, blue, Electric Blue, that's the colour of Old Blue!

On the same site as the Schwimmer.

Yes I know its not a VW (apols Rob), but I hope some of you will think as I do. I love it, split-rear-window too:smile:
