My search for a pre 53 chassis is still on. As some of you know I have tracked down the 1949 chassis for my car. But to complete the deal i need to replace it with another chassis. It will be used for a Kubelwagon, so im not looking for concourse or fully original pans!

I have checked out the BBT 1950 rolling chassis. I was told it is up for, are you sitting down.....2000 euros. Not to bad i thought untill i realised it didnt include delivery. :shock:

So anyway the search continues...............

yes thankyou i emailed him, he told me it had sold. Im fairly sure George told me this was the chassis that he gave away?

Georges went to a guy called Andy (druid57) in the midlands.

I was told there may be an early chassis at Nomad VW as some friends of mine were looking for one a while ago but are sorted now.
(they didn't buy the one at Nomad by the way!)

Oh ok? It must have been another one, i know which ever one i looked at, it was definatly Georges old one that he gave away for free as he warned me. I'm so confused, ive spoken to so many people! I did talk to nomad vw though? Must have been about something else? :?

Anyway, i'll email jon straight away. I glad someone knows what im doing cos i avnt got a clue. Ive got a whole other load of sites im on trying to finish off the dreaded Rs, Another for the Aston Martin (Too much chrome!!!, and some more where im breaking my wifes 306 Turbo.

Anyway thanks for letting me know i got my self confused, or id have carried on thinking the nomad chassis was another x in the list.

it's something along the lines of:

Once again, a rare piece of Nordhoff's history: a complete chassis from a Volkswagen beetle approx.. June 1953 (# 496 thousand) not the usual scrap iron, but unwelded, original (grey covering is still the original VOLKSWAGEN adhesive, with which the carpet was stuck together) and without serious rust. Only some easily treated superficial surface rust on the floor pans, nirgens is already peeled or thin the material. Screwing edge sensational! A better received plate gibt's otherwise only with old cutaway models. Originates from a Top Oval, which was placed by unaquainted hand on another floor pan. Original front axle has a small rust place, no problem. Transmission is fully synchronised. it does not have documents, I would have however a document of one the all-last Brezelkaefer (also 1953), for which, the trick 17 Abholer. Located in Munich - and: remember - in 2 weeks is Octoberfest...

HI have spoken to seller he has told me its for an oval?
Would this still be ok for use in a kublewagon, i.e is there any difference between this 1953 chassis and a Pre 1953 chassis.
Secondly it appears there are no documents for the chassis, does anyone know how id stand with this if i were to purchace this chassis for my friend.?

The chap sold it for cash out of auction. Was a good chassis as well. Nevermind.

Im in talks with nomad vw as he needs to remind him self how much its worth.

But please, please still keep your eyes/ears open, i really would like to fine a pre 53 chassis before i collect my 49 this month.

hi , ive got 2 52 krotch koolers ,one of them iam putting on a late chassis so i have the complete early set up if your interested, only snag at the mo is they are in germany and will not be back till xmas, is this any good to you??

hi lee, what do you have in mind price wise for the complete 52 chassis?

Well i was kind of hoping you would tell me what you want for it!
It is very difficult for me to offer a value as i have no idea what condition your chassis is in, and what comes with it i'e wheels, engine etc?
As a rough and i mean rough guess, anything from £600 to £1000, maby a more if it is in real good condition/ with engine etc!?
Sorry, i cant be more specific with out any details on it!
What do you think it is worth?

hi lee, no pics mate untill beginning of november when i go to germany to organise them coming home, ive owned them since 2000, i no that they are solid with engines but none runners , i would be looking to sell a complete running gear,i.e beam, pan , gearbox and engine, so stay in touch and ill work out what they cost and shipping cost and come up with a price for yer. all the best lee.

I've spoken to a few people who all know a hell of a lot more than i do and they are saying £600-700 as a rough guess.
I've been told prices are all over the place at the moment with some things going for nothing and some at silly money. 'complete' cars are going for about 1500 euros in places so ive been advised that £1000 for your chassis would only be justifiable it it was in near mint condition!?

Also now my requirements have changed as i bought the 49 chassis outright, so there is no need to find a replacement spine. Now my goal is to find a complete chassis, as per last 3 posts above and use the running gear on my 49. Or indeed if you guys think i can do it buy sourcing the seperate parts, then please let me know. although i fear this would work out much more expensive then buying a complete chassis?
