Hi guys here are some pictures of the parts i have attained in the last month for my 49. If you see anything inncorect or wrong (i know the seat mounts need removing on chassis) please tell me as i hope to have it all painted and on the car in the next few weekends.
Oh and as no-one replied to my last post, i assume its all painted black then?!

One of the brake halfs is for juice brakes but im either going to alter this or have find one more.

desperatly need the center tunnel brake rod, had one on ebay de but i missed the ending buy half houf and lost it!! 😞

I know you are moving them but are'nt those seat mounts a post '55 thing? Did you go to a later floor in the end?

Ooops double post.

Is that beam a short shock tower split beam or taller later 50s? I know our 50 beams have smooth welded short towers, and I know that 52 had a short spot welded seamed beam, I'm not sure when the smooth seam welded beams ended? 51? 52? Anyone know the exact changeover date?
We do have a spare 52 floor complete also.

Hi anna. Yes the pan pressings are not correct they are oval (i think) the seat rails met an ugly death with an angle grinder and some oxycetelene on monday. the chassis is now gorgeous VW black, so shiny and smooth seems a shame that it will nearly all be covered up! i investigated and toyed with the idea of the pan halfs but they were in 'mint' condition and the welding craftsmanship was spot on, so i decided to save a few pound notes for other areas on the car.

The front beam was changed in july49 (correct me if im mistaken) from short shocks to the longer towers. so it is correct for my Nov 49' car. the chap who sold it to me is who sold my the car, he says it even has the correct number of splines in it. guess il find out tommrow when it disassemble it for restoration! There is an anti roll bar on it at the moment, its been attached rather crudley, all i can thank for is this can be removed, at least it wasn't narrowed aswell

Anyway hoping that the gearbox and front baem go smoothly this weekend the chassis should be rolling. Im ithcing to fit the body!!!! But i still need the CENTER CABLE BRAKE ROD. so if anyone has one please let me know.

Regards Lee

thank you very much for the offer, i take it you are talking about a brake rod?. How annoying, its a catch 22.. you require a pattern to fabricate one, defeating the object, as if i had a pattern id be using that one instead!?

By "make one", what do you mean? if its fabricating a bit of steel, i can do that myself. or do you have the equipment to make an exact copy by means of casting??

Once again thank you for your interest, id be interested if you can cast one, and indeed find a pattern. Although if this is just as / or more expensive than finding one 2nd hand for sale, then obviously, it would be false economy to persue with this.

kind regards Lee
