That's a very interesting picture. I was living in the area at that time during my formative years. It was sad to see the old London trolleys disappear from the roads - what a mistake that was with all today's pollution worries in the capital.
My music teacher Mr Stokes had a black Beetle, though I can't be 100% if it was an oval being so long ago, but being the early 1960s there was a good chance it was. Back then the Beetle seemed a strange car, and it was only known as the Volkswagen, though class mates had a rather different name for it, you see Mr Stokes and his car were German, and the war not too long ago. I can remember Mr Stokes struggling to get his double base into the car a few times. I do not recall it sticking out of the sunroof though, if it had one, I'm not sure.
Can you show more of the car, the registration may jolt my memory, it would be great if this was Mr Stokes' Beetle.
