Hi everyone,
Does anybody know what happened to the 1965 1300 Cabriolet Beetle featured in the Practical Classics restoration book? The car was bought by them in late 1982 (original colour Sea Blue I believe)and the restoration was covered in the magazine over the next three and a half years. All the articles were later put together in a soft-back book published by Brooklands. The car had a later registration number(XWR 223L)and ended up painted Poppy Red. When Practical Classics bought the car it had been bodged beyond belief and there was practically none of the original car left by the time the restoration was finished in the spring of 1986. Looking at the DVLA website it seems the last time it was taxed was in May 1995 but it could have had an age related plate assigned to it since then. All the other Practical Classics books featuring their restoration projects over the years are still available (Minors, Stags, M.G.s, Minis etc,) but the Beetle one seems to be unavailable.
