I bought a lovely '59 from Si/69project, the only real thing that I need to get sorted out is a fuel gauge. I know late 50's ones were cylindrical but the only ones I've been able to find are early 60's, please tell me if I'm wrong on this? Don't suppose anyone has one for sale do they?

Thanks

Late 50ies Beetles didnĀ“t have fuel gauges as they had a reserve tap. You may be thinking of Dehne accessory gauges.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking of, a Dehne gauge.

Thanks for that

I think I may have one of those in the glove box but there's nothing like something on the dash telling you how much you've got left!

Hmmm I had a '59 Beetle for 10 years...never had a gauge nor did I ever run out of petrol and used the reserve tap just once. OK, yes I'm a smart ass.
