I recently bought a nice complete 28 PICT-1, but have just noticed something a bit odd about it. On other 28's (PICTs and PICT-1s) I have got, there is no allowance for spring in the normal sense, they all rely on the return spring similar to on a 30 horse.

This one has a hole (albiet not threaded) for the top spring mount, that first appeared I think in '66 on the 30 PICT (1300).

My best guess is that it is some kind of recon unit, re-assembled with later parts? There is a stamped tag attatched to it. There is not the normaly VW recycling symbol that I have seen on some rebuilt PCI's.

Any ideas?
