This spring's to do list for my '58 Ghia includes a new carpet set. They've not arrived yet so I've started looking for suitable acoustic soundproofing material for floor and front and rear bulkheads.

Does anyone have any first hand recommendations?

Forgot to say'

Boat people have thick proofing for sound as many have deisel loud engines. Thick rubber stuff stuck to inside of doors etc is best..........but not original.

Be at peace with your noise!!!!

I think you would like sound of your Indesit in the back.

Haha... It might seem like I talk a lot in comparison with you Rudy, over here we call it being sociable and friendly.:p

If, you have trouble with those words I've done a Google translation into Albanian for you..."drustven" and "prijateljski." Those are the words...explaining the concept...I can't help you.

I am surprised you Albanian trafficers considered such creature comforts as sound-proofing when shipping asylum seekers between you mother country and Italy.

Still thanks for your input...it has been cut up into small squares, hung on string and filed in an appropriate place for further use.:d

Try something from the Dyna range of products John. Dynapad is the one to go for:

https://www.dynamat.com/technical_specs_dynapad.html

You have to stick it on to surfaces (it's self adhesive) but it works a treat.

Most decent car hi-fi shops will stock or be able to get it.

Yes I was thinking about the self adhesive type of underlay. I was reading about similar stuff that was bitumised and was very messy to use...is this stuff reasonably clean?

Cotton wool is the best for sound insulation.
