guys I have purchased a banner 6v battery. Do I need to charge the battery before I use it?

If you had to add battery acid then it should be good to go straight away.

the battery came topped up. When I put it onto the car the battery was dead

I guess for mail order a charged battery would be a potential fire hazard.

Guy's, just to let you know my problems turned out to be the starter motor bush worn out & not making a good connection. Once I repaced the bush the car started up first time & probably didn't need a new battery as the old one was fine too
