I have a round voltage regulator which only shows a Bosch number of RS/TA160/6A3.

Am I correct in assuming that this was fitted to the 6volt 160Watt generators somewhere between late 1955 and 1960? Any more precise dating would be welcome.

Round regulators all are date coded.
F.I. mine has 10K on one of the attachement brackets opposite the idnumber.
This means it's been made in October 1954.

Hi Piet, this one has 2L (I think) on that bracket. Where should I look to decode this?

Yes indeed, it's feb 55.
Bosch codes are easy.
First digits are month,letter is year.
J=53
K=54
L=55...
