We've just had the gearbox oil changed on our '60 and now there appears to be a terrible oil leak from both driveshafts.

Not sure when the oil was last changed, but the 'box was noisy so perhaps there was hardly any in it! It's quieter now.

The n/s seems to be leaking from the where the driveshaft enters the box, while the o/s is leaking through the hub:omg:

What is likely to have happened here and how do I go about putting it right?

Can anyone tell me what parts are needed and what work is involved?

Many thanks

Steve

p.s. does this mean ANOTHER oil change - does it require the 'box to be drained in order to repair the leaks?

Sounds like your axle gaiter needs changing on the one side (the big rubber thing that goes around the axle tube where it enters the box). This is a very easy job.
On the other side, the rear hub oil seal has gone. You need to strip the back drum down and remove the 4 bolts that hold the bearing housing on. The oil seal needs to be pressed out of this housing and the new one pressed in, plus new O-ring and paper gasket. You may also need to change the brake shoes (do both sides), depending on how badly they have been contaminated. You may need to top up the gearbox oil after this, but you won't lose much oil by doing the above (you don't have to drain the box to do this).

There's a great video on the just campers website that shows how to replace hub seals
