No bickering and nonsense please, no non-VW tittle-tattle, Rattletrap and non VW images such as fat ladies….

I don't want this thread spoilt :!:

Dad's list of VWs at VW Action back in the 1970s as said earlier;

1946 - LAL 23, D.Smith
1947 - JLT 420, Colbourne's Garages
1948 - 1948 VW, Jim Murray
1949 - TJJ 62, Rod Sleigh
1950 - 10 BXK, Tony Levy
1951 - SLH 16, D.Smith
1952 - MRT 308, J. Miller

Two other very interesting cars from Dad's listings;
1950 Hebmuller cabrio – Robin Arkle
1952 Papler Police car – Tom Dobson

The picture of the Papler he took looks to show that the car is on a later chassis though (has 4 bolt wheels)?

I've also found of Safer VW Motoring from the period, features MRT 308 on the cover, with a sign on the roof written 'First VW Built for the UK' In the write up, the 1952 RHD Beetle is owned by a John Miller who claims to also own the last Beetle built for the UK, a 1978 1200L, although its not silver?

Of all the 'original UK vintage VW enthusiasts' above, I wonder who if any today remain on the scene other than Jim Murray?
1956 VW Beetle, 1962 Morris Minor, 1968 VW Beetle (Old Blue), 1972 Morris Mini, 2005 MGTF

Blue, blue, Electric Blue, that's the colour of Old Blue!

Rod Sleigh is still around and is the owner of VW Books. Often seen at the shows. John Miller still has VWs but has been a little shy of late.:wink:

I have a copy of that on DVD, funny thing is, I think I can see myself on it during the prize giving towards the end of the film. At least it was someone who was wearing a stripy jumper just like the one I had in 1981...

Happy days

That's a nice looking Oval in the previous Muddy Stanford Hall pic. Wonder if that's still around? Loved the early Action's at Stoneleigh, were fantastic events in my opinion. Such a huge showground, seemed to walk for miles around there when i was a kid...
