OK, there is lots of chat about early Front wings.. and their differences, but not much talk about the rears.

Are there many differences? Other than the obvious rear light positions?

How do you tell they are definitely genuine?

I don't think rears changed as much as fronts. 52-55 ones have the 4 holes for the lights and 56-61 Euro ones have the 3 holes for the snowflake lights. Factory fitted 56-61 wings had the dimpled pressings between the bolt holes, but some later genuine VW replacement ones had castleated cut-outs between the bolt holes.
