Thats good. So when I get bored and want to cause a stir on the forums I should just make a post implying that my desireable car is for sale. Then, once I have some enthusiasts excited and reaching for their bank account statement, I then say that its not really for sale at all, with a ha ha ha, just having some fun.

Always remember. This is a hobby, it should be fun!

Have you ever replied to an advert only to find the advertiser is really just 'testing the water', and has no intentions of actually selling? If so, was it fun? And, if in addition to that you've just made an expensive mobile call to that person, does that make it more 'fun'?

The only fun is had by the person misleading.

Hoho...I'm late to this topic and seemed to have missed all the fun.

I love ET's Heb any aircooled VW fan would drool over it, he put so much into it it would be hard to think he'd part with it.

Every time he posts that he's going to sell it we all have a good laugh...or at least most of us do...it's forum banter.

As for "worth" and "cost"...they're words that aren't related.

I you want to know what a car's "worth" ask a scrap dealer...if you want to know what a car "costs" then ask "the market."

Old Blue is a family owned from new car, with all history, bills, MOT and Tax discs. Not many old Beetles like that now.

The 1956 Oval is a very original car complete with most of its sun-baked paint.

The Morris Minor is one of the very best survivors of its type, very low miles, all original including all the paint, and a concours contender.

nicolass wrote:

And neither do I. I like the principle and ethos of the idea of a 'People's Car', - a cheap affordable car to give the people the opportunity of having their own transport. This is how VW became such a success, the basic Beetle. The Hebmuller was an impractical and more expensive car, totally useless for a family of Mum, Dad and two children as Hitler ordered the car to be. The Karmann of course does seat the 'ideal' family, but is again more for the afluent.

The Hebmuller was one for the rich, and today still is. There some really nice non-VW classics around for the sort of money sellers want. Much sooner have a Jaguar XK120 myself.
