today I dismantled a poorly 30Hp from a 1958 Beetle and discovered it to mostly consist of scrap metal, the crank has been hammering away at the main bearings and the crankcase, and two big ends are destroyed so it will take some fancy machining or a replacement case and crank, so has anyone out there got a bunch of 30hp bits it would be useful, the inlet manifold is rotten, the J pipes are rotten and bodged up, the flapper boxes are missing their flappers, the other bits of tin are battered about and the ring gear is chewed up, not a happy picture. Are there any machine shops in the Uk that can shut a crankcase up down its centre line and line bore the cam and crank bores etc, apart from some pulled threads the heads will go again,if someone out there has a whole motor for sale I would be interested as I need so many bits, thanks Bill
