hello everbody...... need some help just got my log book back from the d.v.l.a and the deetails are wrong could anybody tell me what year vw started .. calling the type 1 a beetle on the log book or if thay ever did.
allso my car was made october/ november of 63. but thay put on my log book that it was registed in december 64 would the car have been wating that log or have thay got it wrong........... my car is sedan delux from sweden. should it say that on the log book because it dosnt....

VW did,nt start calling the Type 1 "Beetle" until the GT Beetle of 1972/3 I believe but the first VW owners club mag was called BEETLING and the name stuck.

As for the year of manufacture.

Your bug was REGISTERED in 1964 even tho it was BUILT in October/November 1963.

Also some dealers would have had stock from the previous year.

My 1970 is in fact a 69 in spec.
It was registered Aug 1 1970,so is a 69 Beetle,being BUILT in May 1969.

Confusing I know but just remember the motor industry runs August to August,at least in UK and Germany.
